Farmers’ body demands to hike sugarcane price to Rs 450 per quintal

Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangh has demanded the government to hike the sugarcane purchase price to Rs 450 per quintal for the 2022-23 crushing season, reports Live Hindustan.

VM Singh, district unit head of the organisation handed over the demands of the organisation including a hike in cane price to the ADM Santosh Kumar Singh, addressed to the Chief Minister.

The drought-like situation has led to the spread of diseases on the cane crops and farmers are bearing the cost of insecticides and fertilizers.

“Apart from this, the cost of irrigation has also been increased and taking this into account the government should hike the cane price to Rs 450 per quintal for the upcoming crushing season,” he further added.
