Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: According to a report by Live Hindustan, sugarcane farmers in Shamli have unanimously decided to withhold their cane supply to the Shamli sugar mill until all pending cane dues are settled.
This resolution was reached during a panchayat (community meeting) held at a temple in Panjokhara village. The farmers expressed their anger towards the sugar mill for failing to clear their outstanding payments despite the end of the crushing season.
Farmers claim that despite several meetings between them and the officials of the sugar mill regarding the pending dues, no action has been taken to resolve the issue.
