Mawana (Meerut), Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Kisan Sabha have demanded to increase the sugarcane purchase price in Uttar Pradesh.
The farmers led by Kisan Sabha members visited the Tehsil office on Thursday and submitted the memorandum of their demands to the concerned officials addressing the chief minister.
The farmers have demanded that the government should fix the sugarcane purchase price at Rs 450 and start the sugar mills in October. The farmers have also demanded that the government should ensure that they get their cane dues with interest on it from millers and the steps should be taken to low down the increasing prices of electricity and agricultural implements.
