Farmers demand payment of pending cane dues

Daha: Sugarcane farmers have demanded the sugar mills clear pending cane dues at the earliest, reports Amar Ujala.

A meeting of farmers was organized in Bhadal village to discuss the situation of pending cane dues. Addressing the gathering, a farmer of the village said that the government should hike the sugarcane price to Rs 450 per quintal.

RLD leader Pushpendra Thekedar said that with rising input costs, the profit share of farmers is lowering and they are not able to meet their daily needs from the money earned by cane cultivation. The government should take decisions in favor of the cane farmers, he said.
