Farmers demand to reopen closed sugar mills in upcoming season

Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers from the Nakur area have demanded the revival of the closed sugar mills in the upcoming crushing season. They have urged the chief minister to revive the Bidavi and Todarpur sugar mills that are closed for several years.

The farmers have stated that the revival of these mills will change the financial condition of the region as well as of the farmers.

As per the news report published in Jagran.com, addressing a gathering of farmers at Fandpuri, farmers’ leader Chaudhari Atul Fandpuri said that the area under cane cultivation has increased this year compared to the previous season. The farmers are facing the problem of cane supplying to other mills, therefore sugar mills should be revived soon.

During the 2017 elections, BJP leaders had promised to revive the closed sugar mills, however despite coming to power they have not fulfilled their promise and we urge the government that the time has come to fulfill the promises they made during the last election, he said.
