Thanjavur: The protest of sugarcane farmers against irregularities committed by the Thiru Aarooran Sugar Mills administration entered the 100th day on Thursday, reports The Times of India
The farmers are demanding the government intervene and settle their dues.
The mill has borrowed Rs 300 crore illegally from banks in the names of hundreds of farmers using fake documents, alleged the cane farmers. The mill was shut afterwards and was taken over by another private player. Farmers want the new administration to settle the dues. They launched a protest under the banner of Tamil Nadu Sugarcane Farmers Association on November 30 demanding the state government to intervene and resolve the issue.
