Farmers to agitate for revival of Todarpur sugar mill

Chilkana (Saharanpur): Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Kisan Mazdoor Sangh have decided to agitate for the revival of the Todarpur Sugar Mill that has stopped operations for the last eight years, reports Amar Ujala.

A meeting of farmers was organised in Sultanpur on Sunday during which they outlined a plan to launch an agitation to demand the revival of the sugar mill.

Thakur Purna Singh, national president of the organisation said, “As many as 119 sugar mills are operating in the state. Why can’t one more sugar mill can be operated. If we protest sincerely then the government will have to revive it.”

He asked the members of the organisation and farmers to fix a date for launching the agitation and directed that the agitation should be launched outside the office of district collector or commissioner instead of agitating outside the sugar mill.
