FIR lodged against Unit head, Zone In-charge and weighing clerk of sugar mill

Lucknow: In order of the instructions given by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, to making the cane weighment pure and transparent and to curb the cane mafias, instructions have been passed by the Hon’ble Minister, Sugar Industry and cane Development, Shri Suresh Rana to stop the fraudulent activities at the cane purchasing centres and to effectively curb the cane mafia, accordingly the Cane commissioner, Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy has directed the officers of all the cane regions to run intensive campaign to stop the Under weighment at the cane purchasing centers.

Regarding these intensive campaigns Commissioner, Cane and Sugar Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy told that Instructions were given to investigate the case immediately after taking cognizance of the complaint made by the farmers regarding irregular cane weighing at the cane purchasing center Nyamu-5 of Deoband sugar mill, Saharanpur, run in Muzaffarnagar. In complaince of the same, on the instructions of District Cane Officer / Assistant Sugar Commissioner, Muzaffarnagar, surprise inspection was carried out by the inspection team consisting of Khandasari Officer, Muzaffarnagar, Khandasari Inspector Area-Muzaffarnagar and other officials.

Shri Bhoosreddy told, that on the spot, about 60 farmers and 08 sugarcane carts were found standing for weighment. The weight present at purchasing centre were also not found to be standard weights. The weighment check register was also not provided on the demand and license, authority and identity card was not available with the weighment clerk shri Prashant Pundir s/o Mr. Ajab Singh. After reading the inspection letter, the mill weighing clerk Shri Prashant and the mill officer Mr. Sanjay Tyagi refused to sign and the farmers were also persuaded for not to sign. On the instigation of the sugar mill employees, the unknown people present there tried to tear the inspection document.

He also informed that, on cane purchase center Nyamu-5 cheating with cane farmers by doing under weighment using fraudulently practices and obstructing the inspection process has been found. For which, an FIR has been Lodged under Sections 420, 120 (B), 264 and 353 of Indian Penal Code against Shri D.N. Mishra, unit head, Mr. Sanjay Tyagi, Zonal In-Charge and weighing Clerk shri Prashant Pundir s/oMr. Ajab Singh.

The Cane Commissioner, also said that cane mafia will have no place at Cane purchasing centres of the state and directed the officers of all cane regions to keep full vigilance on the tasks related to cane weighing and if irregularities are found, then Punitive action should be ensured against the concerned weighing clerks and sugar mills. During all the above actions in view of social distancing proper distance was kept by the officers and personnel of the Cane Development Department, and the guidelines were followed issued from time to time by the Headquarters and Health Department regarding covid-19.
