Mumbai: The equity benchmark indices ended higher on first trading session of 2022. Sensex closed on January 03 at 929.40 points higher at 59,183.22. Nifty ended 271.65 points higher at 17,625.70.

In the previous season, Sensex closed on December 31 at 459.50 points higher at 58,253.82. Nifty ended 150.10 points higher at 17,354.05.
Bajaj Finserv was the top Sensex gainer followed by Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, and IndusInd Bank.
