Uttar Pradesh: For the first time 240 licenses of khandsari units have been issued

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: In compliance of the order of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of U.P. Yogi Adityanath, and in order to the directions given by Hon’ble Cane minister Shri Suresh Rana, the Cane Development Department is committed for timely cane supply of farmers to sugar mills and to make timely cane price payments to the farmers. Constant efforts are being made to improve the arrangements in this direction.

Giving detailed information in this regard Commissioner, Cane and Sugar, Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy said that in last 25 years for the first time 240 new Khandsari licenses have been issued. This will add to 58,650 TCD Crushing capacity, which is be nearly equal to the crushing capacity of 11 Sugar Mills. For getting a new khandsari license, online application may be submitted on portal www.upkhandsari.in. The competent authority will take decision on online application within 100 hours of submission.

Shri Bhoosreddy also told, that due to the establishment of these Khandasari units in the rural areas, along with the consumption of additional sugarcane, it will generate new employment opportunities and means of additional income in rural areas which will further strengthen the rural economy. He also informed that during the last crushing season 2019-20, 56 new Khandasari units were operated and so far 117 new units are operational in the current crushing season. 11 licenses have been issued by the department through offline mode and 229 through online. The operation of 240 Khandasari units will provide about 41,560 direct and indirect employment along with a capital investment of about Rs.1,098 crore in rural areas.
