Goa Assembly witnesses ruckus over Sanjivani Sugar Factory issue

Panaji, Goa: The issue of revival of Sanjivani Sugar Mill rocked the State Assembly Goa on Tuesday.

Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) MLA Sudin Dhavalikar said he had tabled the calling attention on the Sanjivani Sugar Mill for the third time which was not accepted.

Demanding the house to consider the calling attention, MLA Dhavalikar and independent MLA Prasad Gaonkar rushed to the well in the Assembly.

Dhavalikar asked why the calling attention was not accepted.
Speaker Rajesh Patnkear said there were 17-18 calling attention and all could not be accommodated during a session of two days.

Dhavalikar claimed that he was being denied the opportunity while other independent MLAs were allowed to table calling attention. They ended the protest only after the chief minister Pramod Sawant assured to intervene. The house was adjourend till 2.30pm.
