Ponda, Goa: Sanjivani Sugar factory in Dharbandora has decided to distribute quality seed setts (Planting material) of three hybrid varieties to the sugarcane farmers with an aim to increase crop production.
The mill has procured the hybrid seeds from Gadhinglaj in Maharashtra and will distribute them to farmers through the Sugarcane Farmers Facilitation Committee.
The recovery rate of the hybrid varieties is 11-12% as against the 9% of the existing crop and the factory is eyeing an increased yield from the next crushing season.
Narendra Sawaikar, chairman of the committee said that the seed setts are ready for distribution.
