Government launches sale of ‘Bharat’ Atta to check prices

To check the prices of wheat flour “Atta”, especially during the festive season, the Government has taken an important step by launching 100 mobile vans for the sale of wheat flour (Atta) under ‘Bharat’ brand in New Delhi.

The atta will be available at ₹ 27.50/Kg, and will not exceed the price set by the Government. ‘Bharat’ Atta will be available at all physical and mobile outlets of Kendriya Bhandar, NAFED and NCCF from Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Textiles and Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal said that the Government’s intervention has stabilised the price of essential commodities. He said that various measures were taken in the past with regard to tomatoes and onions to cool off prices.

He added that the produce of farmers is being purchased by the Centre and thereafter, is being provided to the consumers at a subsidised rate.

The Government has already launched the Bharat Dal (Chana dal) which is being sold at Rs.60 per kg for 1kg pack and Rs.55 per kg for 30 kg pack.
