Government plans to increase cane farmers’ yield by 100 quintals per acre: Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa

Punjab: The cooperative department is making a comprehensive plan to increase sugarcane yield by 100 quintals per acre, said Punjab Cooperation and Jails Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. He was speaking after inducted Mr. Amrik Singh Aliwal as Chairman of The Punjab State Federation of Cooperative Sugar Mills Limited, along with Mr. Bharat Inder Singh Chahal, Advisor to Chief Minister, Punjab, former Minister Mr. Malkeet Singh Dakha and other senior Congress leaders, here at Sugarfed Office, phase-2, Mohali.

“Sugarfed has been able to provide a plan for farmers to increase their income. In this time-bound programme, we will provide certified seeds of high yield variety of cane to farmers. Every sugar mill will produce a high yielding variety of seeds in their nursery and provide them to cane farmers. The mills have been given two years to achieve the target,” he said.

We are working on to establish an institute at Kalanaur, Gurdaspur to provide training to cultivators and seeds, he said.
