Haryana: Farmers demand increase in sugarcane price to Rs 400 per quintal

Ambala: Sugarcane farmers have demanded to hike the state-advised price (SAP) for sugarcane to Rs 400 per quintal from the existing Rs 362 per quintal, reports The Tribune India.

Farmers stated that they have spent heavily on pesticides to protect the crops from pest attacks and also expect yield loss this season.

Vinod Rana, president of Ganna Kisan Sangharsh Samiti said, “Farmers have spent a huge amount on pesticides as the crop was under pest attacks. The government should increase the SAP for the cane to Rs 400 per quintal.”
