Haryana focuses on boosting ethanol production

Chandigarh: Like Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and other states, Haryana also has started focusing on boosting ethanol production.

According to the news report published in Punjabkesari.in, Cooperative minister Dr. Banwari Lal said, “With the help of sugar mills, ethanol production will be ramped up in the state. It will assist sugar mills and cane growers to increase their profit.”

The minister also informed that the sugar mills in the state will start cane crushing operations from November. However, in a recent meeting of sugar mills officials and sugarcane farmers, it was demanded to start the cane crushing operations from October. But due to some technical reasons, it is not feasible.”

The central government with an aim to lower the expenditure on foreign exchange has set a target of blending 20 per cent ethanol with petrol by 2025. The roadmap for ethanol blending in India 2020-25 was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 this year on the occasion of World Environment Day.
