Haryana govt asked to achieve zero stubble burning

Karnal: Haryana government has been asked by the chairman of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in the NCR and adjoining areas MM Kutty to achieve zero stubble burning during the Kharif harvesting season, reports Hindustan Times.

He has asked the deputy commissioners of 14 districts to make a plan and take steps to bring stubble burning to zero.

The Haryana government has claimed that it successfully achieved a 45% decline in farm fires last year from September 15 to November 15. The state recorded 3,149 incidents of farm fires in 2022 during the above-mentioned period compared to 5,724 in 2021 during the same period.

Now the department has asked eight districts namely Fatehabad, Sirsa, Jind, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Yamunanagar and Karnal to ensure that stubble burning comes to zero.
