Haryana mills register hike in sugar recovery

Haryana: The efforts taken by the Haryana government has resulted in increasing the average sugar recovery of the sugar mills to 10.45 per cent.

Cooperative minister Dr Banwari Lal said, “Till April 15 mills crushed 611.44 lakh quintals of sugarcane and have produced sugar with the recovery of 10.45 per cent. Whereas in the last season, the mills crushed 624.98 lakh quintal of sugarcane and produced sugar with an average recovery of 10.19 per cent”.

Last year, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has asked the cooperation department officers to formulate a strategy to increase the sugar recovery rate. Also, Cooperative minister had advocated for increasing production of refined sugar to increase the revenue of mills.

Speaking about the Co-operative Sugar Mills, then in this season they crushed 353.48 lakh quintal of sugarcane and produced sugar with an average recovery of 9.95 per cent. While private mills crushed 257.96 lakh quintal of sugarcane and produced sugar with an average sugar recovery of 11.13 per cent.
