High quality of sugar would be exported to USA, Canada and Gulf countries: Punjab Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa

Chandigarh: On the occasion of Lohri, Cooperation Minister, Punjab, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa launched three varieties of FATEH ‘Gur’ (Jaggery) and ‘Shakkar’ (Sugar) at Punjab Bhawan. The products are manufactured by the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Buddhewal. The mill has started the production under the brand name ‘FATEH’.

Addressing on this occasion, Randhawa said, “In order to increase the income of the cooperative sugar mills, production of valued-added products of different types such as Brown Sugar, Refined Sugar, ‘Gur’ is also in the pipeline.” Also, in the markets of Punjab and adjoining states, the marketing potential of these would be tested.

“Apart from testing the local market from neighbouring states, the high-quality jaggery and sugar would also be exported to USA, Canada and the Gulf countries. A Sugarcane research institute at Kalanaur is also on the cards that will increase farmer’s income”, he further added.
