Hike in sugarcane rates by Haryana government insufficient: Bhupinder Singh Hooda

Chandigarh: The recent hike of the sugarcane purchase price declared by the Haryana government is insufficient, said senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda. He was reacting to the recent decision of the Haryana government of increasing sugarcane price by Rs 12 per quintal to Rs 362 for the 2021-22 crushing season.

“When Congress was in power, we had increased the sugarcane rates by 165% during 2005-2014. But since BJP came to power, the farmers have witnessed only a 16 per cent increase in the sugarcane price in the last seven years,” he said.

The Haryana government recently increased the sugarcane price by Rs 12 per quintal to Rs 362 per quintal, for the 2021-22 crushing season.
