Increase in number of licences to distilleries, sugar mills and sanitizer manufacturing units for production of sanitizers

Lucknow: Following the shortage of hand sanitizers in the market which helps in preventing the spread of Coronavirus, the cane department in Uttar Pradesh increased the number of licences to distilleries, sugar mills and sanitizer manufacturing units for production of sanitizers. According to the Times of India, it has been increased from 29 on March 29 to 48.

Cane development minister Suresh Rana said, “These sanitizers will be supplied to various parts of Uttar Pradesh as well as to the other states from where COVID-19 cases have been reported.” In the coming days, more licences would be issued for the production of sanitizers.

Of the 48 units, 29 are sugar mills and liquor distilleries and 19 are sanitizer manufacturing units.

After the rise in COVID-19 cases in India, there is a huge demand for sanitizers. As per media reports, an acute shortage of sanitizers in the market had given rise to black marketing. Many mills, distilleries, sanitizer manufacturing units are working hard to produce sanitizers to fulfil the demand in the country.
