Tanzania is expecting to generate employment opportunities as Indian investors are planning to invest in sugarcane cultivation in the Sumbawanga district, reports local media.

Abraham Mafurunja, founder of the Euphrates Consulting Company was in India for three months to study the course on international global marketing under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) which has paved the way for investment.

He had met the founder of Gopel Seed Company which has shown interest in the sugar sector in Tanzania.

“The meeting was fruitful and I am happy about what has been achieved so far,” Mafurunja said.

For sugarcane and wheat production, around 4000 hectares of land have been allotted in the Sumbawanga district, he informed.

“For sugarcane farming, the company’s founder will sign a contract with the Euphrates Consulting Company and Ufipa Cooperative Union after visiting the region in November,” Mafurunja further added.
