Iran: Increase in domestic sugar production helped government to save $1 billion

Systematic planning and the efforts of farmers and government in the last seven years has helped in increasing domestic sugar production. Good output aided country to save around $1 billion, said Iranian Agriculture Minister, Abbas Keshavarz.

The transparency and healthy competition among the sugar beet growers have helped in increasing the production. The cultivators are more enthusiastic about production as they are earning good profit.

Keshavarz said, “The ministry of agriculture has helped farmers to get good returns for their products. Sugar beet plays a major role in the production of sugar and helps farmers earn better returns.”
