Iran: Sugar mill workers continue strike even after 30 days

Iran: The workers attached with the Haft Tappeh sugar mill continue their agitation against the privatisation of the sugar mill and pending wages even after 30 days. The mill is located in Shush, South-West Iran. Mill workers have alleged that from the last three months they are working without wages.

According to the media report, hundreds of them have taken to the streets to protest, saying that they have been forced to “borrow” bread from bakeries.

The International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco and Allied Workers’ Associations has urged the government to intervene and pay workers wages.
