Janata Dal (Secular) expresses concern over defunct conditions of Mysugar and PSSK sugar mills

Mandya: The Janta Dal (Secular) has asked the state government for crushing cane grown in the areas of defunct sugar mills Mysugar and PSSK sugar mills to the other mills.

The meeting of party leaders was held here on Wednesday during which they discussed the issue. They have sent a memorandum in this regard to the government through deputy commissioner M V Venkatesh.

Talking to the media persons, they said, “The state-owned Mysore Sugar Company Limited (Mysugar) is not functioning due to technical and operational problems. The last government led by former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy had planned to set up a new mill on its premises costing Rs 100 crore but this government is planning to privatise sugar mill.”

Earlier, the state government had proposed to use the PPP model for running loss-making sugar mills Pandavpura and Mysugar in Mandya district.
