Bengaluru: Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai will convene the high meeting today to discuss the future prospects of the loss making state-owned, The Mysore Sugar Company Ltd.
According to the news report published in Thehindu.com, the elected representatives and farmers leaders have been invited to attend the meeting in Bengaluru.
The move to revive the sugar mill by privatizing it has been opposed by the Janata Dal (Secular) and Congress party as well as the farmers. Cane growers have launched an agitation against the mill’s privatization plan.
During his visit to the farmers in Mandya during Dasara celebration, Bommai assured them that the government would soon convene a meeting to address the issue.
