Karnataka: Crop insurance compensation released for Haveri district

Hubballi: Minister for Textiles, Sugarcane Development, and Directorate of Sugar and Agricultural Marketing, Shivanand Patil, has announced that an interim crop insurance compensation of ₹126.75 crore has been released for Haveri district. This accomplishment is the result of the collaborative efforts of district officials and the cooperation extended by local farmers, reported The Hindu.

Addressing the press after a Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) review meeting held in Haveri, Patil highlighted that the Haveri district received the highest interim relief in the state, primarily due to the efficient and timely actions of district officials. He further stated that the process of crediting the interim crop loss compensation had already begun, with ₹40 crore having been credited to farmers’ bank accounts. Additional disbursements will follow in a phased manner, providing much-needed relief to the farming community.

Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Rudrappa Lamani, Chief Whip of the Legislative Council Saleem Ahmed, MLAs U.B. Banakar, Basavaraj Shivannavar, Prakash Koliwad, district-in-charge secretary R. Vishal, Deputy Commissioner Raghunandan Murthy, and other officials were present at the meeting.
