Karnataka farmers to protest over sugarcane issues today

Mysore/Mysuru: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) will gherao the residence of Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai in Bengaluru on July 11 stating that the government has failed to address the problems they are facing, reports StateofMysore.

Badagalapura Nagendra, KRRS President said that the farmers are demanding the government to fix sugarcane price at Rs 4,500 per tonne and mills to clear pending cane dues in time but the government has failed to address these issues. “The aim of protest is to draw the attention of the Government to the plight of the cane farmers,” he said.

Nagendra further added that all the farmers will gather at the KSR Bangalore Railway Station (Majestic) at 11 am on July 11 and from there they will move towards CM’s residence.
