Raibag, Karnataka: A fire caused by a short circuit destroyed nearly 30 acres of ready-to-harvest sugarcane crop at Bhiradi village in Raibag taluk on Sunday, reports Deccan Herald.
The blaze occurred in fields owned by Ningappa Mirje, Raju Langote, Nagappa Teli, and Amar Kestikar, located near the Vittharaya Temple within the Raibag police station limits.
Villagers, with the help of the fire department, worked together to bring the flames under control after several hours.
While no injuries were reported, the farmers suffered heavy losses as their standing crop was completely gutted.
