Karnataka government to formulate Green Hydrogen policy

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah allocated ₹23,159 crore to the energy sector in the state budget, representing 6% of the total allocation. This marks an increase from last year’s 7% share and a significant jump from the ₹14,388 crore allocated by the previous government, reported The New Indian Express.

Siddaramaiah unveiled a series of long-term initiatives, aiming to boost the installed power generation capacity from 32,000MW to 60,000MW over the next seven years. Aligning with the central government’s push for green hydrogen, the Chief Minister announced that the state government will create a dedicated green hydrogen policy. Additionally, a self-sustained green hydrogen plant will be established on a pilot basis for Rs 10 crore.
