Karnataka working on designing ethanol policy

The Karnataka government is working on designing an ethanol policy that will promote the production of ethanol, said Sugar Minister Shankar Patil Munenakoppa.

According to the media report, Handloom, Textile and Sugar Minister Shankar Patil Munenakoppa on Monday said, “We will soon set up a committee that will study and make recommendations regarding the policy. The committee comprises experts from S Nijalingappa Research Institute that will submit a report in this regard within a month. We are planning to use sugarcane, maize as well as paddy for ethanol production.”

“Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai has also agreed to have an ethanol policy” he said.

The ethanol production in the state is less compared to the demand and government planning to increase ethanol production to meet the required need.
