Kazakhstan plans to develop sugar sector

Kazakhstan is working on around 380 investment projects of around 380 US$11.6 billion, which it aims to execute in the upcoming five years. The plan also includes the development of the sugar sector in the country. The decision was taken in a recent meeting of the government officials.

According to the media report, government officials said that the country is spending a huge amount to import sugar and other food items. The government is planning to reduce the cost of imports by increasing sugar production in the coming years. To achieve the target, the government is planning to set up new sugar factories in the country.

Askar Mamin, Kazakh Prime Minister said, “Kazakhstan has the potential to develop as an agro-industrial complex. Our country has a real opportunity to become one of the world’s food hubs. We are focusing on the development of the agro-industrial complex in order to address this important task.
