Kazakhstan to import 134.4 thousand tons of sugar from EAEU

Almaty: Kazakhstan will be importing 134.4 thousand tons of sugar from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Rashid Zhurabekov, head of the department of analysis of prices for socially significant goods of the Ministry of Trade and Integration said that the government has approved an import quota of 134.4 thousand tons of white sugar and raw sugar.

The right to distribute the available quota between raw sugar and finished sugar is reserved for Kazakhstan and the quota is valid until September 30, he said.

Kazakhstan is working on around 380 investment projects of around US$11.6 billion, which it aims to execute in the upcoming five years. The plan also includes the development of the sugar sector in the country.
