Kenya: Man hacked to death for allegedly stealing sugarcane

A 75-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death by two unidentified assailants on Monday evening. The suspects are at large.
The deceased has been identified as Edward Khalakai Wanjala. His body was found lying in a sugarcane field in Buyanju village, Trans Nzoia County, Kenya.

According to the local media, he was allegedly caught stealing sugarcane from a farm, following which he was hacked to death by assailants.

A village elder, Mr. Gabriel Mukhinde Wekesa told reporters that the deceased identified as Edward was hit on his head after he was found trying to steal sugarcane from the field. He said, “On Monday night I got information that two youths allegedly attacked him after he was found stealing sugarcane from the field.” Police are further investigating the case.
