Kenya: Sugarcane farmers demand action against sugar mill’s managers

Kenya: Sugarcane farmers have demanded the arrest of Muhoroni Sugar Company managers for mismanaging billions of shillings of taxpayers.
The demand came after the audit report exposed the fraud.

According to the media reports, Auditor General Nancy Gathungu’s exposed that the management under-reported sales, inflated tenders, misused borrowed funds, defaulted on loan payments and paid sacked and retired workers.

Charles Anyumba, chairman, Kenya National Federation of Sugarcane Farmers said the concerned officials should be arrested and prosecuted immediately.

“The Criminal Investigation Department and the Anti-Corruption Commission should initiate action against the concerned persons immediately,” he further added.
