Kushinagar: Sugar mill makes 100 per cent cane payment

Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh: After the Uttar Pradesh government warned sugar mills of action over pending sugarcane bills, millers have started clearing the dues. Ensuring 100 per cent cane payment, Kushinagar’s New India Sugar Mill has taken steps to give relief to cane growers.

In the 2020-21 season, the sugar mill had crushed 62.24 lakh quintals of sugarcane. Karan Singh, executive chairman of the sugar mill, said that sugarcane worth Rs 19,958.58 lakh was purchased in the current season. The payment of which was sent to the account of the concerned farmers.

Singh said that the sugar mill is committed to make the cane price payment on time.

Sugarcane farmers and opposition parties are launching an attack on the government over the pending cane payment. The state government claims that 100 per cent cane payment was made for the season 2019-20 and for the current season they are taking various steps to ensure sugar mills clear dues on time.
