Laksar: Rain impacts sugarcane sowing in region

Laksar (Roorkee): The weather in the region remained pleasant on Sunday apart from cloudy skies and light rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted similar weather conditions for the next few days, reported Live Hindustan.

This change in weather has affected both wheat harvesting and sugarcane sowing in the region. Wheat harvesting has just begun, and farmers are worried about the rain spoiling the harvested crop.

“We have just started harvesting wheat,” said farmer Deepak Kumar. “The wheat is cut and gathered in the fields, and then threshed with a machine after a day’s drying in the sun. The rain will make the cut wheat wet and spoil it, so farmers are afraid to harvest their wheat because of the weather.”
