Jammu: In Jammu and Kashmir, the Government will provide 1 Kg sugar to the AAY families per month through the Point of Sales (POS) devices at a subsidized rate of Rs 13.50 pre kg. This will benefit over 2.33 lakh AAY families in the Union Territory.
The AAY families are poorest of the poor section of the society. The Administrative Council which met under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor, G C Murmu accorded sanction to J&K Special Sugar Scheme for AAY families.
For meeting the requirement of sugar under the scheme, the Administrative Council approved procurement of 2800 MT of sugar per annum by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs from the open market through competitive bidding in e-tendering mode.
