Madhya Pradesh cabinet gives nod to ethanol policy

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government approved the ethanol policy in its cabinet meeting held on Monday. Incentives will be provided to attract investors to set up ethanol manufacturing plants in the state.

Like other states, Madhya Pradesh also aims to boost ethanol production in the state.

Earlier state home minister Narottam Mishra had said, “A policy will be introduced soon for paddy-based industries and to increase ethanol production in Madhya Pradesh.”

The central government with an aim to lower the expenditure on foreign exchange has set a target of blending 20 per cent ethanol with petrol by 2025. The roadmap for ethanol blending in India 2020-25 was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 this year on the occasion of World Environment Day.
