Maharashtra: 11 sugar mills continue sugarcane crushing operations

Sugarcane crushing operations is in the last leg in Maharashtra, with many mills ending their operations for the season. The total sugar output in the state has crossed 109 lakh tonnes.

Till April 17, 2024, 1066.86 lakh tonnes of sugarcane have been crushed in Maharashtra, producing 1093.55 lakh quintals (109.35 lakh tonnes) of sugar. Notably, 196 out of the 207 sugar mills in the state have stoped crushing operations this season. This indicates that only 11 sugar mills are currently operational. In the previous season, during the same period, all sugar mills had ended their operations.

Kolhapur Division: 279 lakh quintals

Pune Division: 248.37 lakh quintals

Solapur Division: 204.87 lakh quintals

Ahmednagar Division: 140.2 lakh quintals

Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Division: 88.04 lakh quintals

Nanded Division: 120.65 lakh quintals

Amravati Division: 9.39 lakh quintals

Nagpur Division: 3.03 lakh quintals

Average Sugar Recovery Rates by Division:

Kolhapur Division: 11.57 percent

Pune Division: 10.51 per cent

Solapur Division: 9.39 per cent

Ahmednagar Division: 9.96 per cent

Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Division: 8.94 percent

Nanded Division: 10.25 per cent

Amravati Division: 9.42 per cent

Nagpur Division: 6.59 percent
