The sugarcane crushing season is at full pace in Maharashtra. Till November 20, as many as 147 sugar mills have participated in the crushing season. It includes 73 cooperative and 74 private sugar mills.
According to the data released by the Sugar Commissionerate, the mills have in the state so far produced 122.6 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 138.87 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.83 per cent.
Maximum sugar mills that have begun operations in the state are from the Solapur division (35). In this region, mills have produced 25.80 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 31.64 lakh tonne sugarcane with recovery of 8.15 per cent.
