Maharashtra: Kolhapur division is leading in sugar production

Sugar mills in Maharashtra are operating smoothly to complete the crushing of available cane grown by the farmers.

As many as 197 sugar mills, including 98 cooperative mills and 99 private mills, in the state, are operating and have produced 755.16 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 748.85 lakh tonnes of sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.08 per cent.

Kolhapur division is leading in the state by producing 204.28 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 177.72 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 11.49 per cent.

Solapur is leading in the state in terms of operating maximum sugar mills (46). The mills in the Solapur division have produced 161.51 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 177.76 lakh tonnes of sugarcane till February 3, 2022.
