Maharashtra: Notices to four sugar mills for delay in cane payment

Pune: Four sugar mills have been served notices of property attachment by Maharashtra Sugar Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad for the delay in payment of sugarcane bills as per the FRP.

According to the news report published in Indianexpress.com, two mills are from the Solapur district and one each from Satara and Beed districts.
With these notices, the total numbers of notices issued to the sugar mills have increased to 17.

For the ongoing crushing season, 187 sugar mills participated in the cane crushing operations and have produced 95.75 lakh tonnes of sugar by crushing 920.23 lakh tonnes of cane. The sugar output in the state is expected to reach 100 lakh tonnes for this season. So far 52 sugar mills have completed their cane crushing operations and the remaining mills are likely to end operations till April-end.
