Sugarcane crushing operations in Maharashtra have picked up. Mills in the state have produced 132.76 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 149.42 lakh quintal sugarcane till November 21, 2021. The sugar recovery rate stands at 8.89 per cent.
Till date, 149 sugar mills have participated in the crushing season, including 74 cooperative and 75 private mills.
Solapur division is leading in the state with the highest (35) sugar mills engaged in the cane crushing operations. According to sugar commissionerate, mills in Solapur have produced 27.35 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 33.58 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.14 per cent.
