Maharashtra simmers at 45.1 degree Celsius, heat waves likely to sweep across eastern parts of state

Pune, Apr 24 (UNI) Day temperatures were above normal in some parts of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, west Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Tamil Nadu, west Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat State, Jammu and Kashmir and were markedly above normal in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Day temperatures were below normal in some parts of West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and were appreciably below normal in some parts of Bihar.

Day temperatures were normal over rest of the country. The highest maximum temperature recorded over the plains was 45.1 degrees Celsius in Bramhapuri of Vidarbha.

Thunderstorms occurred during past 24 hours at isolated places in Kerala, Assam, Meghalaya, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala.

Heat waves are likely to sweep across at isolated places in Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha.

Duststorm is very likely at isolated places in west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, and east Rajasthan during next 24 hours.

Thunderstorm along with gusty winds is very likely at isolated places in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, east Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, west Rajasthan, Kerala, south interior Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at many places in Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in coastal and south interior Karnataka, Assam, Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Mainly dry weather prevailed in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gujarat State, Konkan and Goa, madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Rayalaseema, and Lakshadweep.
