As many as 185 sugar mills have participated in the cane crushing operations in Maharashtra. It includes 93 cooperative mills and 92 private mills.
According to the state sugar commissionerate, the mills till December 14, 2021 produced 310.3 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 330.89 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.38 per cent.
Solapur division is leading in the state with maximum (43) sugar mills operating this season. The mills have produced 67.94 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 80.19 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.47 per cent.
Sugar mills in the Kolhapur division have surpassed 10 per cent recovery rate. The mills from Kolhapur have produced 88.79 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 83.11 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.68 per cent.
