Maharashtra: Sugar mills to face action if they begin crushing operations before official date

Pune: Maharashtra government has decided to file criminal cases against the sugar mills management if they start cane crushing operations before the official starting date of October 15.

State Sugar Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad has issued directions to all the regional joint directors of sugar to file criminal cases if any mill is found commencing the operations before the official date.

The government has announced to start cane crushing operations from October 15.

According to the media report, the sugar commissioner has received 195 applications for issuance of crushing licence.
