Maldives president thanks India for sending sugar and other essential commodities

Praising India for helping the country by sending sugar and other essential foodgrains during Covid-19 crisis, Maldives president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said that India is a true friend of Maldives.

India sent 80-ton sugar and other foodgrains including 200 tons of rice, 140-ton wheat flour, 120-ton of yellow split peas, 26-ton onions, and 14 tons of potatoes to the Maldives. Indian Naval Ship Kesari, carrying 580 tonnes of essential food items including sugar, on Tuesday reached Male port in the Maldives, the first destination under the government’s ‘Mission Sagar’ initiative.

Expressing his gratuity on microblogging social media platform Twitter, he said, “During the Covid19 crisis, India has been a true friend to Maldives. India’s recent gift of essential food supplies is particularly helpful during these challenging times. Our sincere thanks to PM @narendramodi and the people of India for their friendship and generosity.”
