MHU to provide drone training to farmers

Karnal: Farmers will get training to operate drones to spray on crops as the Maharana Pratap Horticulture University (MHU), Karnal will set up a drone training centre, reports Tribune India.

The centre will be set up at its Anjanthali farm in the district and would start operations by the end of November, said Dr Samar Singh, Vice-Chancellor, MHU.

Apart from farmers, students and entrepreneurs will get training, he said. The farmers will be given drone-flying licenses after completing training and they can operate drones on their own. MHU is the first University in the state to provide such type of training and issue licenses, he said. “We will charge less fees compared to other private institutes and provide licenses as per the guidelines,” he said.

“Spraying with the help of drones is more effective in crops having height such as sugarcane, fruit crops and others, while the manual spray is difficult,” Singh further added.
