Minister advocates diversifying cropping pattern by sowing sugarcane

Ludhiana: Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Minister for Agriculture and NRI Affairs advocated diversifying cropping pattern by sowing maize, cotton, sugarcane, pulses (like summer moong), fruits and vegetables, reports Tribune India.

He was the chief guest at the dooji (second) Punjab Sarkar-Kisan Milni and the ‘NRI Farmers’ Conclave that was held at Punjab Agriculture University (PAU).

Addressing the gathering the minister announced the formation of the Directorate of Agricultural Engineering under the Punjab government for the promotion of farm mechanization and crop diversification.

He advised the farmers to diversify their cropping patterns by sowing sugarcane and other crops.
